Sarah Nancy (Kale) Fish, 54, passed away 9 May 1836 north of Bedford in Marshall Township, Lawrence County, Indiana. She was born 5 Aug 1781 near Catawba in Lincoln County, North Carolina to Balser Kale and his wife, Nancy Ann Bridges.
Sarah married William Fish, Jr., 7 Mar 1803 in Lincoln County, North Carolina and the couple had 10 children; Rheuia, Corbin, Logan, Nancy, Malinda, Elizabeth, Anderson, Hiram, William and Andrew.
The pioneer family migrated to Orange County, Indiana in 1816, however, Lawrence County was created to include them about 1820. Sarah was among the first burials at Fish Cemetery, thus lending her name to the graveyard.
